Silence Speaks

YES.

YES.

I need to go study and do stuff for a project and shower, but I thought I’d stop by here to talk a bit. It’s been a while since I’ve done so.

Today. Was. Wonderful. I’d honestly rather just sit around like that all day than go places. Is that weird? Anyway, I had a great day. Not even the fact that I have 5 tests and a huge project can bring me down right now.

Ahh, I’m just so happy. So so happy.

So like over spring break, I stayed home instead of going to Florida with my family, and so they decided to take a cardboard cutout of my face with them.

That’s…that’s like the best family ever.

When we’re kids, we come up with these crazy fantasies about who we want to be. Typically, it’s a singer or an actress or something else that involves fame and fortune. For a good chunk of our lives, we’re convinced that is our destiny. Until I was at least 13, I wanted to be a singer. But now that I’ve matured a little, I’ve grown out of that fantasy. This week, I’ve seen people talk about who they want to be. The younger the person is, the more far-fetched the dream.

Frankly, I don’t find that to be a coincidence. Where along the way do we lose that? That feeling of aspiring to be someone to remember. At what point in our lives do we look at our dreams and think, this is childish,and change our minds? Can we predict the night that those dreams fade and stop returning?

We go from wanting to live in Hollywood to being content with staying in the same town forever. When I was younger, I swore I’d never do that. But now? Unconsciously, it seems to be becoming a bigger reality for me. Not that there’s a problem with staying in the same town your whole life! I just wonder…where did I lose that child-like fantasy? When did I permit it to leave?

What happened?

When, where, and why did I change my dreams? Everyone says it’s okay to not know who you want to be. And in most cases, it is. But if you know, don’t lose sight of your dream. Don’t conform into thinking that you can’t achieve it.

Never stop shooting for the stars.

Of course, the week I wasn’t there happened to be the week I really needed to be.

“Do this! Do that!”

She’ll ask for a favor,

but he just laughs.

Day in, day out, she tries;

she tries to oblige by what he wants.

When she fails, away he taunts,

but when she succeeds? Not a word is uttered.

Nothing but hatred ever seems to be muttered

in this house that is not a home.

She remembers his pain from that wretched day;

that memory is what keeps her at bay

and prohibits her fantasy of going away.

She knows he needs her in order to stay together,

for without her, away he’d shrivel.

So she’ll stay in this house,

even if life seems uncivil.

Too often, yelling is the only sound within these walls.

As a result, tears and confidence desperately fall.

For someone that loves her,

he sure has a funny way of showing it.

Silence speaks words with more volume than noise could ever dream. This? This is what I hear when I listen to the silence.
